2024 battle of the bands: Vote for the best small high school marching band in Kentucky

Fall is in full swing.

For months now, marching bands all across Kentucky have spent hours upon hours practicing in order to deliver memorable performances each Friday night and perfect their routines ahead of the Kentucky Music Educators Association State Marching Band Championships on Oct. 26. The finals will take place at the University of Louisville’s L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium.

Once again, we’re looking for the commonwealth’s most beloved marching band.

Following the intense interest in last year’s marching band poll, we’ve decided to offer two polls this year — one for competing marching bands classified as 1A, 2A and 3A, and another for 4A and 5A bands. The winning bands will be featured in future stories, like 2023 winner Lee County.

Voting ends Tuesday, Oct. 8 at noon. This is not a scientific poll and you can vote as many times as you’d like. To vote more than once, refresh this page.

This poll is meant to be a celebration of Kentucky’s high school marching bands ahead of official KMEA competition later this month. The Herald-Leader asks all participants to refrain from utilizing bots or other forms of automated assistance in order to gain an advantage.

Editor’s note: We inadvertently left off Valley High School from our original poll. Adding it now would cause all votes to be erased in the poll, so we are adding Valley High separately so people can still vote for them. The Herald-Leader regrets this oversight. The Valley High poll will appear first before the original, larger poll.
