Here are the 2025 Lexington All-City girls basketball teams and player of the year

The Lexington Herald-Leader and Kentucky.com are proud to present the 2025 All-City girls high school basketball teams and player of the year as voted on by the nine coaches of Lexington’s varsity KHSAA programs.

The girls Lexington Player of the Year goes to Jaelee Knowles of Frederick Douglass, a 5-foot-11 sophomore forward who averaged 17.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game this season in helping Douglass win the 42nd District and 11th Region championships on the way to the Girls’ Sweet 16 final four.

Knowles received five of the possible eight first-place votes available to her with Lafayette senior Belle Combs getting three and teammate Kate Baker receiving one.

Frederick Douglass’ Jaelee Knowles (23) blocks the shot of Lafayette’s Belle Combs (11) at Lafayette on Jan. 22. Knowles and Combs were voted the top two players in Lexington this season by the city’s coaches.

Lexington’s nine varsity girls basketball coaches were asked to nominate players for All-City consideration. Later, the coaches were asked to rank, one through 10, their top players from that list of nominees. They were not permitted to vote for their own players.

Point values were assigned to each voting position (10 points for first-place votes, nine points for second-place votes, etc.) and the accumulation of those points was used to create the first and second teams. Per tradition, each team is limited to three All-City honorees. First-team honorees are listed with voting totals plus first-place votes in parentheses.
