Corbin’s Elam named Mr. Baseball; five Lexington players earn All-State honors

Corbin’s Kade Elam, a senior Louisville signee, was named the 2025 Mr. Baseball by the Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association, which made the announcement last week along with its annual All-State Teams.

Elam, a two-sport standout who also quarterbacked the Redhounds’ football program for most of his varsity career, helped lead Corbin to a second consecutive 13th Region championship with a .455 batting average, five home runs and 41 RBI to go with a 4-1 record on the mound with two saves and a 0.74 earned-run average.

Lexington Catholic’s Owen Jenkins, a senior Kentucky commit, made the KHSBCA’s First Team despite missing part of the year due to injury. In 18 games, Jenkins hit .508 with three home runs, 10 RBI and 15 runs scored. He was also 14-for-14 in stolen base attempts as a catcher.

Four other Lexington players received All-State honors including Jenkins’ LexCath teammate and fellow UK commit Jack Sams (Second Team), Sayre junior Gary Gibson (Second Team) and senior teammate and Columbia commit Charlie Slabaugh (Third Team), and Lexington Christian’s senior Air Force signee Blake Campbell (Third Team).
