South Warren’s McLaine Hudson leads All-State honors as 2026’s Miss Softball

South Warren’s McLaine Hudson has been named the 2026 Miss Softball by the Kentucky Softball Coaches Association as it announced its All-State Teams and coaches and players of the year late Saturday on its website.

Hudson, a senior Florida State signee and two-time Kentucky Gatorade player of the year, helped lead the No. 1 Spartans to the school’s first Softball State Tournament championship on Saturday and will go down as one of the greatest high school players in Kentucky history.

This year, Hudson, the Spartans’ leadoff hitter, shattered the single-season KHSAA records for home runs (28), hits (99), runs (110) and batting average (.728).

In addition, Hudson set all-time career records in the same categories — home runs (91), breaking the previous mark of Madisonville-North Hopkins’ Kaylee Tow (2012-17) by 16; hits (469), breaking Tow’s mark by 104, runs (430), breaking Tow’s mark by 71, and batting average (.594), a .034 jump from Carlisle County’s Maddison Martin (2015-18). Hudson’s 301 career RBI are second only to the 334 of Madisonville’s Mallory Peyton (2011-17).

While Kentucky high school softball does not have a classification system based on enrollment, the KSCA divides its All-State and other honorees into three classes, roughly representative of the KHSAA classes for cross country and track and field.

The previous single-season home run record of 24 had been tied just last year by South Warren teammate and fellow first team all-state player Layla Ogden, a Western Kentucky signee, who earned the KSCA’s Class 3A player of the year honor as part of this season’s awards.

Joining Hudson and Ogden on the Class 3A first team are fellow Spartans Hadley Borders and Courtney Norwood. Norwood, a junior, was named the state tournament’s most valuable player on Saturday. South Warren earned Class 3A coaching staff of the year honors.

From Lexington, Frederick Douglass junior Haley McGuire earned 3A first team honors. Bryan Station’s all-city player of the year Karsyn Rockvoan was named to the second team. Madison Central, the 11th Region champion, placed junior pitcher Kate Drury on the first team.

In Class 2A Harrison County’s Isabella Persinger earned player of the year and her coaches earned staff of the year. In Class A, Livingston Central’s Addison Tramble and Cumberland County’s Erica Branham shared player of the year. Cumberland County earned staff of the year.

The KSCA awards will be presented during the organization’s annual East/West All-Star Series weekend beginning Saturday in London.
