Girls' soccer: Owensboro Catholic tops West Jessamine

Two of the top girls' high school soccer teams in Kentucky went head to head Saturday afternoon when No. 2 Owensboro Catholic visited No. 5 West Jessamine in the VisitNich.com Soccerama.

Owensboro Catholic won the match at Nicholasville, 4-2.

Owensboro Catholic defeated West Jessamine 1-0 in the quarterfinals of the state tournament last fall and went on to play in the state championship game, where the Aces were beaten by South Oldham.

Owensboro Catholic (2-0) opened its 2015 season with an 8-0 victory over crosstown rival Apollo on Tuesday night before knocking off West Jessamine on Saturday.

West Jessamine (1-2) opened with a 4-2 victory over Lexington Christian on Monday before falling 4-0 at No. 1-ranked Sacred Heart on Thursday.
