Boyle girls win Fayette Soccer Spectacular; Henry Clay boys shine

Madelyn LeFavers scored two goals in the second half on Saturday night to give 10th-ranked Boyle County a 2-1 victory over Woodford County in the championship game of the Fayette County Soccer Spectacular at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School.

Camryn Pictor put Woodford County in front with a penalty kick goal in the first half after Boyle County was called for a handball in the box.

The Yellowjackets (3-1) remained in front but under constant attack from the Rebels until LeFavers finally broke through with the tying goal with 14 minutes to play.

It looked as if the teams were headed for overtime when LeFavers scored again with 2:38 remaining to lift the Rebels (4-0) to the championship.

Woodford advanced to the finals with a 1-0 win over No. 12 Paul Laurence Dunbar in the semifinals on Saturday morning. The unranked Yellowjackets also knocked off No. 13 Tates Creek on their way to Saturday. Boyle County beat No. 11 Campbell County 3-0 in Saturday's semifinals.
