Four-star wide receiver to announce college decision Sunday. Kentucky is a finalist.
One of the best football players in the state of Kentucky is set to announce on Sunday where he’ll play college ball and UK is in the mix for his services.
Dekel Crowdus, rated as a four-star prospect in the 2021 class by ESPN, 247Sports and Rivals, tweeted in March that he’d narrowed his list to 10 schools and that he’d reveal his choice on his birthday, May 10. Joining Kentucky in Crowdus’ final 10 are Louisville, Ohio State, Texas, Michigan, Mississippi, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech and Baylor.
Crowdus, a speedy 5-foot-10, 165-pound wide receiver, is ranked as the No. 2 player in Kentucky in the 2021 class by Rivals. As a freshman during Frederick Douglass High School’s inaugural season, he totaled six touchdowns and 465 yards from scrimmage. Crowdus had a breakout sophomore season, leading the Broncos with 831 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns before playing his junior year at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
Crowdus announced his move to IMG Academy on Twitter a few hours before Douglass’ first game of the 2019 season. Crowdus has returned to Frederick Douglass ahead of his senior season.
Crowdus participated in last year’s Rivals Five-Star Challenge, an invite-only camp that features 100 of the top-ranked high school prospects in the country.
Kentucky is also in the mix for Crowdus’ teammate, Frederick Douglass offensive lineman Jager Burton. Also a four-star prospect in the 2021 class, Burton is ranked by Rivals as the No. 1 player in Kentucky in the 2021 class. In addition to UK, Burton has scholarship offers from Alabama, Ohio State and Clemson, among others.
