Lexington’s newest professional sports franchise has finally revealed its home uniforms.
Lexington Sporting Club — a Central Kentucky professional soccer franchise that has begun play in USL League One, the third tier of American men’s soccer — unveiled its home uniforms for its debut 2023 season on Friday.
The home kit features prominent use of the green color scheme featured in LSC’s club crest: A neon green wave pattern flows down the vertical middle of the shirt, surrounded by a dark green color.
There is white detailing along the neckline, sides and sleeves of the shirt.
Like with LSC’s away kit, UK HealthCare Sports Medicine is the primary, front-of-shirt sponsor for the home kit.
Both LSC’s home and away uniform set is manufactured by Nike.
The wave pattern down the center of the shirt is “inspired by the fences, fields and farms of Lexington” and “evokes images of the rolling hills of Central Kentucky,” according to an LSC news release about the uniform.
LSC will wear its home uniforms for the first time on April 8 against Forward Madison FC.
That match will be LSC’s first-ever home game, and will be played at Toyota Stadium near the campus of Georgetown College in Georgetown.
LSC has publicly revealed both uniforms for 2023 season
Earlier in March, Lexington Sporting Club unveiled the team’s road uniforms for the 2023 season.
The road uniform set is a white jersey and white shorts combo, with a black diamond silk pattern vertically down the center of the shirt. The Nike logo is on the right side of the shirt, with the LSC crest on the left side.
The back of the shirt is white, with a small stylized horse in black near the neckline.
In a news release announcing the jerseys, the diamond pattern is said to be a reference to jockey silks in horse racing.
LSC unveils official club anthem ahead of first home match
On Friday, Lexington Sporting Club also publicly announced its “club anthem” ahead of its first home match on April 8.
The song is “Brave, Bold & Free” by RAGS AND RICHES, a self-described “adrenalized American alt-pop duo” comprised of brothers Peyton and Tanner Whitt.
The Whitts are Lexington natives.
In a social media announcement, LSC encouraged fans to learn the lyrics to the song prior to the team’s April 8 home opener.
