Know your foe
1. In Mike White’s first season in Athens after his surprise exit from Gainesville, the Bulldogs have won with defense. Going into Saturday’s game at Mississippi, Georgia was holding opponents to 64.3 points a game and limiting foes to 40.8 percent on field-goal attempts and 28.4 percent on three-point shots.
2. Georgia’s best wins this season have come against Notre Dame on a neutral court, 77-62, and home victories over Auburn, 76-64, and Mississippi State, 58-50.
The Bulldogs have been a different team at home vs. on the road. Georgia has gone 10-0 in Stegeman Coliseum but was 0-3 on foes’ home courts entering the Ole Miss contest.
3. Going into play Saturday, Georgia’s top scorer this season has been a face who will be familiar to Kentucky guard Antonio Reeves. Bradley transfer Terry Roberts, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound sophomore, began his college career at Bradley of the Missouri Valley Conference — the same league where Reeves starred at Illinois State.
Roberts was averaging 15.7 points entering the Ole Miss contest.
Georgia’s second-leading scorer, returnee Kario Oquendo (13.0 points), had a strong game vs. Kentucky last season. The 6-4, 210-pound guard had 22 points and seven rebounds vs. UK last year in Rupp Arena.
