In their first game since losing 85-65 to Ohio State in New York on Dec. 21, the No. 10-ranked Kentucky Wildcats take on the Brown Bears on Tuesday in Rupp Arena. The New Year’s Eve tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. on ESPNU.

Kentucky on its way to 11-2

In the final tuneup before SEC play begins Saturday, Kentucky leads Brown 80-47 with 3:55 left. Andrew Carr leads UK with 14 points. Otega Oweh, Koby Brea and Amari Williams have scored 13 points each.

Big second half for Otega Oweh

Kentucky’s Otega Oweh scored two points in the first half. He now has scored 13 and Kentucky leads Brown 62-38 with 11:40 left at Rupp Arena. Cats have made nine of 15 shots this half for 60%. After a poor effort on the boards in the first half, UK has outrebounded Brown 8-4 so far this half.

Kentucky extends lead to start second half

UK opens the second half with an 11-3 run and leads Brown 52-32 with 15:38 left. Otega Oweh has scored seven points already this half. UK made six of its seven shots from the floor before the first TV timeout.

Halftime: Kentucky 39, Brown 27

Despite being bashed on the boards 21-10, Kentucky leads Brown 39-27 at the half at Rupp.

Brown’s turnover woes continue

Kentucky up 22-15 with 7:22 left in first half. Andrew Carr leads UK with seven points. Jaxson Robinson has scored six. Cats are 6-for-15 from the floor, including 3-for-9 from 3-point land. UK’s defense has forced Brown into nine turnovers.

UK forward Andrew Carr scores seven straight points, including a 3-pointer as Kentucky leads Brown 13-7 with 11:53 left in the first half at Rupp. Cats are 4-for-9 from the floor, including 2-for-6 from 3. Brown is 3-for-9 from the field. The Bears have missed both their 3-point attempts.

Sloppy start at Rupp Arena

Brown committed five turnovers in the Bears’ first seven possessions. Kentucky leads 4-2 at the 15:52 TV timeout. Jaxson Robinson has scored all four of UK’s points. Cats have committed three turnovers.

Scouting report: Brown

The Brown Bears are 7-4 after an 87-53 loss at Kansas on Dec. 22. Coached by 42-year-old Mike Martin, in his 12th season at the school, Brown has never before played AP top 10 teams back-to-back. The Bears had won six straight games before losing to Kansas.

Kino Lilly Jr. leads Brown in scoring at 20.0 points per game. The 6-foot senior from Glen Dale, Maryland, had scored 23 points each in three straight games before scoring 18 at Kansas. Lilly is the career 3-point shooting leader in Brown basketball history. The current Bears are 190th in Ken Pomeroy’s rankings, including 178th on offense and 191st on defense.

Scouting report: Kentucky

The loss in New York dropped the Wildcats to 10-2 under Mark Pope, in his first season as the UK coach. Kentucky is 26th in KenPom’s adjusted overall efficiency rankings. The Cats are 11th on offense and 65th on defense. Kentucky is 22nd in the NET rankings.

The Cats are 94th in 3-point shooting at 35.5%. They were just 4-for-22 from beyond the arc in the loss to Ohio State. Over the last seven games UK has made 54 of 181 attempts from 3-point land for 29.8%.
