Fresh off a gritty win against visiting Tennessee, Kentucky takes to the road Saturday to face the Texas Longhorns in an SEC men’s basketball game at the Moody Center.

ESPN has the 8 p.m. telecast with Karl Ravech and Jimmy Dykes on the call.

Final: Texas 82, Kentucky 78

Tre Johnson scored 32 points and Tramon Mark added 26 as Texas knocked off visiting Kentucky 82-78 at the Moody Center.

The Longhorns outscored Kentucky 15-5 over the final 2:48 to snap a three-game losing streak and improve to 5-8 in the SEC. Kentucky dropped to 6-6 in conference play.

Halftime: Kentucky 41, Texas 37

UK’s Amari Williams scored nine points, grabbed five rebounds and dished two assists as the Wildcats held a four-point lead at the half. The visitors were 1-for-9 from 3-point range before the 7-foot Williams hit a triple just before the shot-clock buzzer with 5:48 left in the first half.

Texas freshman Tre Johnson, the SEC’s leading scorer, was 6-for-14 from the floor on the way to 15 points in the first half. The Longhorns made just three of 14 attempts from 3-point range in the first half. The Cats were 3-for-13.

Scouting report: Texas

Texas is 15-10 overall and 4-8 after a 103-80 home loss to Alabama on Tuesday. The Longhorns have lost three straight games and four of the last five. Coach Rodney Terry’s team is ranked 35th by KenPom in adjusted overall efficiency. Texas ranks 34th in adjusted offensive efficiency and 52nd in adjusted defensive efficiency. Texas is 33rd in the NCAA NET rankings with a 3-8 record in Quad 1 games.

Texas freshman Tre Johnson leads the SEC in scoring at 19.3 points per game. The 6-foot-6 native of Garland, Texas, scored 24 points in the Longhorns’ loss to Alabama. His season high was 30 points in a win against Texas A&M.

Scouting report: Kentucky

Kentucky is 17-7 overall and 6-5 in the SEC after UK’s 75-64 win over visiting Tennessee on Tuesday. Coach Mark Pope’s Wildcats are 18th in KenPom’s rankings for overall adjusted efficiency. UK is No. 3 in adjusted offensive efficiency behind No. 1 Auburn and No. 2 Alabama. UK is 77th in adjusted defensive efficiency. It is 15th in the NCAA NET rankings and 8-6 in Quad 1 games.

The Wildcats will again be shorthanded Saturday. Point guard Lamont Butler reinjured his shoulder in the win against Tennessee. Shooting guard Jaxson Robinson will miss his second straight game with a wrist injury. Reserve guard Kerr Kriisa has not played since injuring his foot against Gonzaga on Dec. 7.
