The Upstart Crow, which opened about a year ago at Short Street and Limestone, has closed.

The last day was Friday, according to co-owner Tim Adams.

He didn’t say why the restaurant closed.

The restaurant was in a spot that had seen several other restaurants, including The Jax, Annabelle’s and Mia’s.

Brothers Tim and Mark Adams said last year that they wanted to establish a “new American tavern,” serving lunch and dinner, with a focus on happy hour. They previously had operated several restaurant-bars in Lexington in the 1980s.
