A bar on South Limestone, closed since before the coronavirus pandemic, is finally coming back to life.

Clubhouse, a new night club, will be opening at 385 South Limestone near the University of Kentucky campus. A remodeling permit was approved by the city for the property recently.

The venue was the former home of Pazzo’s Pizza Pub, the campus-area pizza and beer joint that sold in 2018 to BFB Holdings, whose members now include Ryan D. Foster, John B. Bruce, Cary J. Bruce and Mitchell Abel.

Pazzo’s closed in December 2019 and stayed shuttered all of last year during COVID. A plan was filed with the city last summer to reopen the Pazzo’s spot as a cocktail lounge with live music but nothing ever happened.

Until now.

Remodeling is expected to begin soon and the new Clubhouse will open in a couple of months, according to Foster.

Clubhouse will have a restaurant component and be open during the day as well as at night, Foster said. It also have live music and other entertainment, he said.

“We’re still working through quite a few details and haven’t decided on an official opening date. A lot of our timing is contingent upon capacity restrictions,” Foster, one of the partners in the venture, said in an email.

On Monday, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said he plans to remove capacity restrictions on bars and restaurants once 2.5 million Kentuckians get their first vaccines against COVID-19. The state is about 900,000 short of reaching the vaccinated goal.
