A new Girl Scout cookie debuts. And there’s a new way to get your cookie fix.
The holidays are behind us, winter is here and we need something to look forward to. How about a new Girl Scout cookie?
The Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Road council, which includes Lexington, is launching the 2022 cookie season with a new cookie.
Adventurefuls are kind of like mini brownies (get it? Brownies, like the first step in Girl Scouts?) with dollops of caramel and a hint of sea salt.
They join the lineup of Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, shortbread, peanut butter sandwich cookies, peanut butter patties, Lemonades, caramel chocolate chip (limited availability) and Toast-yay!, an iced French-toast inspired cookie that launched last year.
But you won’t find any more Thanks A Lots because the shortbread and chocolate cookies retired in 2020. No more cookies have been dropped since 2020.
Again this year customers can order cookies online for direct shipment or local delivery, or use the Girl Scout Cookie Finder app. Girl Scouts also plan to set outdoor cookie booths.
When do Girl Scout Cookies go on sale?
Cookies are on sale now. You can place orders through individual Girl Scouts you know and deliveries are expected around the end of January.
Beginning Feb. 4, customers in Lexington, Erlanger and Ashland can order cookies from local scouts through DoorDash in a new partnership.
The revenue from cookie purchases stays local, according to a news release: More than 80 percent of the council’s annual operating budget comes from cookie sales. Scouts earn badges and the proceeds got towards camp programs, troupes and program support.
