Healthy restaurant option returning to UK campus corridor with delivery
University of Kentucky students, faculty and anyone near the South Limestone corridor: You’re getting a new healthy restaurant option.
Pita Pit, which has a menu that specializes in sandwiches in pitas, is coming to 543 S. Limestone across from the UK campus in late October, according to franchise owner Blaine Cox, who is opening the restaurant with his wife, Jenny.
The location is currently under renovation.
Blaine Cox said that there used to be a Pita Pit up the street several years ago and he thought it would be a great thing to bring the dining option back.
The restaurant will be right across from the Gatton business school and the new expanded UK Rosenberg law college, in the same block as Hibachi Express. It’s also near the UK hospital and doctors’ offices.
“My wife and I are kind of health conscious, so this gives the kids a more healthy choice than burgers or pizza,” Cox said. The menu also features rice bowls, salads and smoothies.
They anticipate that Pita Pit’s hours will be 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
They will offer in-house delivery for the immediate area, as well as through third-party vendors as well as large-order catering to offices.
