Ready for Beaver Nuggets and jerky? Buc-ee’s in Richmond announces opening day

Kentucky’s first Buc-ee’s, the travel center known for “the world’s cleanest bathrooms,” will open on April 19 in Richmond.

The doors will open to the public at 6 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m., according to the announcement.

The opening comes just over a year after Buc-ee’s announced it would come to Central Kentucky.

The chain is famous for its Beaver Nuggets and wall of jerky. And it’s been called The Best Rest Stop in America by Bon Appetit.

Where is Buc-ee’s in Kentucky?

The Buc-ee’s at 1013 Buc-ee’s Boulevard, at the corner of I-75 and Duncannon Lane, will be more than 53,000 square feet and have 120 gas pumps with “cheap gas,” according to the news release.

The travel center also will have a huge assortment of snack and meal options including Texas barbecue, homemade fudge, kolaches, jerky and fresh pastries.

The Texas-based chain is expanding throughout the state, with locations planned in Western Kentucky.

Buc-ee’s is now in Texas, Alabama, Florida and Georgia, with spots in South Carolina and Tennessee coming soon and stores announced for Colorado, Mississippi and Missouri.

Buc-ee’s Richmond will bring 175 new jobs to the area with starting pay beginning well above minimum wage, full benefits, a 6% matching 401k, and three weeks of paid vacation, according to the release.
