Stressed about cooking for the Thanksgiving holiday? Have no fear, Kentucky’s best-known chef is here to help.

James Beard Award nominee chef Ouita Michel, who owns seven local restaurants, will host a free virtual Thanksgiving cooking class later this month.

During the 90-minute class at 6:30 p.m., Nov. 20, Michel will offer tips and demonstrate how to prepare various dishes for a stress-free holiday meal. Michel, who opened Holly Hill in 2001 and also owns Honeywood, Smithtown Seafood, The Midway Bakery, Wallace Station, Windy Corner and Zim’s Café, said the virtual live class is her gift to the community.

“Thanksgiving is about creating memories and sharing meals with people we care about,” said Ouita. “Through this virtual class, we can celebrate together and enjoy the joy of cooking, even if we’re miles apart. It’s a way to bring the community closer through the love of food and family traditions.”

During the interactive “Friendsgiving” session, Ouita will make what she says are her family’s treasured heirloom holiday dinner recipes. The class instructions and tips will include classic turkey and old-fashioned side dishes to modern twists on holiday favorites. There will also be tips for how to select the perfect wines to pair with your Thanksgiving dinner.
