Lexington restaurant known for its soul food will close at the end of April

Lexington is losing a restaurant known for its Southern-style home cooking.

Josanne’s Homestyle Kitchen will permanently close April 30 after nearly seven years, the restaurant announced Friday afternoon.

“These years have been filled with tremendous growth, joy, and the deep honor of serving up Southern favorites to the heart of the Bluegrass,” the restaurant said in a Facebook post. “We’ve laughed, shared stories, and built lasting memories over comfort food made with love — and for that, we are forever grateful.

“Thank you for being part of our journey, for supporting us, and for making Josanne’s a true home away from home.”

The restaurant, in the Buckhorn Plaza shopping center on Buckhorn Drive, offered up favorites including pork chops, chicken and waffles, fried catfish, fried chicken and more.

Josanne’s is owned by Tamara Hall and Robert Webb.
