A popular coffee chain has closed its first Lexington shop after four years in business.

Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii announced on social media the location at 685 S. Limestone Suite 140, near the University of Kentucky, closed on Oct. 27.

“It has truly been an honor to serve you, get to know you and be part of your daily routine. Your loyalty and support have meant the world to us,” Bad Ass Coffee said in the post.

One location remains open at 3070 Lakecrest Circle in Beaumont.

Bad Ass Coffee came to town in a wave of 45 new restaurants that opened in 2021 in the wake of the COVID shutdown. The shop opened in the Limestone Hub, on the corner of Virginia Avenue, in August of that year with specialty drinks and roasted Hawaiian coffee.
