What’s coming to Carson’s Back Porch? Exposed brick, a touch of Charleston and more
When Carson’s Food & Drink, the popular restaurant on Main Street, announced a new “back porch” concept would be coming in the spring, diners wondered what that meant.
Now, the owners have released new details.
The former Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken location, which closed in August, is being transformed. Construction began recently on the new interior.
Carson’s Back Porch is expected to open at 321 E. Vine St. in May.
What the new Carson’s will look like
“Imagine stepping into Carson’s Back Porch —exposed brick walls, the soft glow of chandeliers, flickering copper lanterns, and plush tufted booths create the feeling of a Charleston porch brought indoors,” the restaurant company said in a release to the Herald-Leader.
“A brand-new restaurant from the team at Carson’s Food & Drink, the Back Porch continues their legacy of award-winning hospitality paired with elevated Kentucky cuisine. Following the successful opening of their second location in Andover, Carson’s sought to expand the back side of the original Main St. space with a more refined up-scale concept and a sense of breezy sophistication.”
Carson’s in Andover opened June 2024 with a million-dollar kitchen and one of the city’s longest bars, and now the restaurant group is expanding with something completely different.
What’s on the menu at Carson’s Back Porch?
The new restaurant “will feature several of Carson’s favorites while introducing a fresh menu designed to delight both new and returning guests alike,” Carson’s said.
While the restaurant will be all indoors, it won’t necessarily feel that way.
“The design evokes true back-porch bliss with a 16-seat bar and an expansive dining room where friends and neighbors can gather to share good food, craft cocktails, and lasting memories. No matter the season, the Back Porch always has perfect weather,” Carson’s said.
