A new pizza restaurant is coming to town, with made-from-scratch dough and sauces.
Delish Pizza, a chain out of Sacramento, Calif., opened a Kentucky location at 118 Blueberry Lane in Nicholasville in 2023. Now, brothers Boris and Mario Shmigelskiy are expanding with a second store in the Zandale Shopping Center.
The restaurant will open at 2220 Nicholasville Road, Unit 162, in a former computer repair shop space. Boris Shmigelskiy said they hope to open by the end of February.
How is Delish different from other pizza places?
“We mix our dough in the store from scratch, make all the sauces in the store,” said Shmigelskiy. A customer favorite is the garlic sauce, he said.
“Our garlic sauce is our own, not an Alfredo sauce ... We have really good feedback,” he said. “It’s pretty good pizza.”
An extra large 16-inch specialty pizza with 12 slices is $23.95; plain cheese is $14.95, carry-out only.
In addition to pizza, Delish also serves garlic bread, wings, fries, salads and desserts.
Unlike the Nicholasville location, the Lexington restaurant will be carry-out and delivery only.
Shmigelskiy said whenever possible, they try to deliver the pizza themselves so they can keep it hot in pizza bags; DoorDash delivery is also available.
Delish also does catering including big events and parties; for a recent wedding, he said, they delivered 55 pizzas to a church.
