The grill is about to fire up at a new-to-Kentucky restaurant: Firebirds Wood Fired Grill is launching in Lexington.

The North Carolina-based chain announced in 2025 plans to open two restaurants in Lexington. Now the first will open at 2400 Polo Club Blvd. in Hamburg near Costco.

According to an ad on Facebook, the restaurant will open in mid-June. A spokesperson for the chain did not immediately confirm that date.

The restaurant’s menu includes steaks, ribs, chops, burgers, sandwiches, chicken, seafood, pasta, salads and sides as well as desserts. On weekends, brunch is also available. Most things are cooked over an open flame.

“We take a lot of pride in our scratch kitchen, offering bold flavors and hand-cut, aged steaks and fresh seafood, which are cooked over an open flame visible from our dining rooms,” said Eleni Gates, senior director of communications, in January 2025.

“That fire is one of our main points of differentiation,” she said. “When we do open in Lexington, we’ll offer staples from our extensive lunch, dinner and weekend brunch menus and will feature our famed FIREBAR. This restaurant centerpiece offers Bar Bite features on weekdays from 4 to 7 p.m., along with the extended offerings and our signature cocktail, the Double Black Diamond Martini, which is an infusion of fresh pineapple and New Amsterdam Pineapple Vodka, garnished with a juicy fresh pineapple slice.”
