Popular closed Lexington restaurant is back with another pop up.

A popular, COVID-era restaurant in Lexington that was known for its eclectic street food and its “Basic B” double-patty burger is back with a pop up.

But plan ahead and arrive early, there will likely be a long line.

Kismet, which closed its permeant location at the Burl in January 2024, will have a pop-up event starting at 6 p.m., Wednesday, July 15 at Al’s Bar, 601 N Limestone.

It’s safe to say the popular burger spot was missed. The last pop-up in February had lines of hundreds waiting hours to get another bite of Kismet’s small but eclectic menu, including “the Basic B” double patty burger, kismet fries and more.

This time, owners Tonya Mays-Cronin and her husband Philip Cronin said there will be changes to hopefully alleviate a line.

There will be a limit of two burgers per order and there will be a queue line to help deliver food.

Besides the popular Kismet smashburger, the pop-up menu includes tomato hand pies, sesame cold noodles, a fried chicken sandwich, pork bahn mi and peanut butter pie.

Many foodies considered Kismet’s Basic B smashburger to be the best in Lexington.

Kismet at The Burl opened in June 2020. Tonya and Phillip said they decided to close in 2024 to spend more time with family and because “it is time for us to move on from that little red window.”
