And what better way to cool off than with a refreshing scoop of ice cream.

Lucky for you, National Ice Cream Day is Sunday, July 19 — Ronald Reagan made a Presidential Proclamation making it so in 1984. He even declared July National Ice Cream Month.

So, to help you with the difficult decision of dish or cone this weekend, here is a list of Lexington ice cream shops celebrating with discounted or free scoops.

Crank & Boom Craft Ice Cream

Popular local ice cream shop Crank & Boom is giving away a free scoop coupon with any purchase at its three Lexington locations.

But act fast — you have to be one of the first there to get the free ice cream.

Graeter’s Ice Cream

Sweet Rewards members at Graeter’s Ice Cream can buy single-dip sugar cones for $1.56 at any location. The price is a salute to the company’s 156 years.

The Cincinnati-based shop is also offering 10% off online orders with code ICECREAMDAY10.

The sweet deals run July 17-19.

Baskin-Robbins

From July 19-25, Baskin-Robbins rewards members can get $5 off an order of $20. Also, members can get a buy-one-get-one free scoop July 26.

Cold Stone Creamery

Cold Stone Creamery is celebrating National Ice Cream Month with its limited-time Cookies ‘n’ Peanut Butter Ice Cream Taco made with Oreo and Reese’s.

My Cold Stone Reward members are also eligible for discounts the entire month and July 19 the shop is having a social media giveaway where five winners can get ice cream for a year.

Dairy Queen

You can score a free Dilly bar at Dairy Queen when, as a reward member, you make any $1 purchase through the DQ app from July 13-19.

Petco

The Frankfort, Mt. Sterling and Versailles’ Petco stores will have a free Ben & Jerry’s doggy ice cream.
