Restaurant changes near the UK campus: One closes; one is opening
More changes are coming to South Limestone opposite the University of Kentucky campus. Noodles & Co. at South Limestone and Avenue of Champions has closed, and next door, Crumzz Bar and Grill, is getting ready to open.
Crumzz owner Laith Hattar said Thursday that the restaurant and bar will open on Feb. 12, serving bar food, including Philly-style cheesesteaks, and be open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily.
Hattar is considering expanding the restaurant into the newly vacated Noodles & Co. next door, he said.
According to the Kentucky Kernel, Noodles & Co. closed Jan. 12; the Noodles & Co. on Nicholasville Road is still open. Noodles & Co. opened on Limestone in February 2014 in the longtime home of campus favorite Tolly Ho, which moved out to South Broadway in 2011.
Bobby Bowen, a former owner and manager of the campus Noodles location, told the Kernel the location suffered from fluctuations in its student customer base.
The new restaurant, Crumzz, at 395 South Limestone is in the spot formerly occupied by Freakin’ Unbelievable Burgers and Street Craves, which closed in March 2017. The spot also once was home to Hugh Jass Burgers.
According to its website, Crumzz will have a full bar as well as craft beer, baked potatoes, hot subs, house-made fries and salads.
