City of Lexington waste crews will not collect trash, recycling or yard waste on Friday, July 3, in observance of the Fourth of July holiday.

Garbage typically collected on Fridays will be collected on Wednesday, July 1, according to the city.

Waste pickup operated on a different schedule twice in June due to Juneteenth observance and severe weather conditions, the Herald Leader previously reported.

Curbside recycling collection was cancelled on June 23 due to Lexington Recycling Center mechanical issues caused by heavy rain a day prior. All recyclables were taken to the landfill instead.

Waste collection will carry on with its typical schedule beginning Monday, July 6.
