Man charged with murder in death of 14-year-old has been extradited to Lexington
A man accused in the killing of a 14-year-old has been extradited to Lexington.
Kevin Garcia, 23, was brought from Barboursville, W.Va., to the Fayette County Detention Center on Tuesday, the Fayette County sheriff’s office said.
Garcia is charged with murder in the death of Angel Juarez, a Leestown Middle School student who was shot as he opened the front door of his home on Thanksgiving. Police said Garcia had gone to the house on Henton Road to confront Angel’s older brother, who had been in a fight with Garcia.
Garcia is scheduled to be arraigned at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Fayette District Court.
The Lexington Police Department is handling the investigation.
