Killer of Lexington father was identified in photo lineup, police testify.

The man accused of shooting a 22-year-old Lexington father in the head was identified by witnesses, an investigator testified Wednesday.

Demarcus Raymond Depree Hill, 31, is charged with murder, wanton endangerment and possession of heroin, according to court records. After a court hearing Wednesday, District Court Judge T. Bruce Bell sent the case against Hill to the grand jury for review of the charges.

Lexington police detective Ross Collins testified that Hill walked up to the passenger side of a car on Hollow Creek Road on Nov. 14 and fired multiple shots. The passenger, 22-year-old Darius Bolden, was shot in the head, Collins said.

The driver of the car was not injured and drove off at a high rate of speed, Collins said.

Bolden was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where he died of his injuries, according to the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.

The driver of the car picked Hill out of a lineup of six photos, Collins said. Another witness said he saw someone known to him as “Spice” fire the shots.

Hill’s aunt also told investigators that he sometimes goes by the nickname “Spice,” Collins said.

When Hill was arrested, he was found with 3.1 grams of heroin, Collins said.

If the grand jury indicts Hill, his case will be moved to Fayette County Circuit Court.
