Boyfriend apprehended on murder warrant after woman found dead in Lexington

A Lexington man has been apprehended on a murder warrant in the killing of a woman, believed to be his girlfriend, who was found Monday morning, police said.

Kevin Velasco-Gomez, 25, was arrested early Tuesday by Kentucky State Police in Simpson County, Lexington police said in a statement.

Police found the body of his girlfriend, 33-year-old Elaine Castillo, late Monday morning in a home in the 2200 block of Alexandria Drive in Lexington. The Fayette County coroner’s office released her name late Tuesday morning.

Velasco-Gomez is being held on the murder warrant at the Warren County Detention Center.
