Three people injured in shooting on Versailles Road

Three people were taken to local hospitals after being shot on Versailles Road Saturday morning.

Police found two of the victims when they were called to the 1500 block of Versailles Road at about 6:45 a.m. They were taken to a local hospital, and one has life-threatening injuries, according to the Lexington Police Department.

Soon after, a third shooting victim showed up at a hospital with injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening, police said.

It was the latest of several shootings in that area in recent weeks.

Earlier this week, the Fayette County coroner’s office said Juan Angel Martinez-Bustos, 18, had died after being shot on nearby Devonport Drive Oct. 3. A 14-year-old boy was also injured, according to police.

As of Oct. 15, 56 people had been injured in non-fatal shootings in Lexington this year, down from 72 at the same point in 2023, according to information from One Lexington.

There have been 14 homicides, 13 of which involved gun violence.
