6 men indicted for conspiracy to kill a federal witness in Lexington
Six Lexington men have been indicted for orchestrating what prosecutors called a “targeted assassination” of a federal witness two years ago.
William Quejohn Dixon, 28, Rollie Deshawn Lamar, 32, Daquis Damarr Sharp, 27, Desmond Elijah Bellomy, 26, and Jatiece Alvin Parks, 21, ad DeAngelo Montavius Boone, 26, were indicted on several charges related to the September 2023 killing of Kristopher Lewis. They were indicted Oct. 2, but the indictments were unsealed Oct. 10.
Federal prosecutors laid out much of their investigation in court documents for a separate case in June.
The six men, prosecutors say, are part of a West End street gang called the Hot Boyz, who orchestrated Lewis’ killing because he was cooperating with police.
A year before his death, Lewis, 28, was indicted alongside a man named Rollie Lamar on charges of conspiracy to distribute marijuana and money laundering.
Lewis was going to testify at Lamar’s trial, court documents show. But he was gunned down first.
At the time of his arrest, Lamar had more than $2 million in assets, including luxury cars, high-end jewelry and guns, prosecutors say.
And in 2023, police allege, he used $1,000 of those funds to order a hit on Lewis.
Lamar was convicted in a February 2024 trial and sentenced to 18 years in prison, according to online court records.
The details of Lewis’ killing were included in court documents for a federal detention hearing in the case of 24-year-old Quincino Lamont Waide Jr.
Waide pleaded guilty to a federal misdemeanor charge of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a person convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence.
He has not been charged in Lewis’ death, but prosecutors alleged in court documents that he facilitated the getaway car that day.
The six men indicted this month are the first people charged in Lewis’ death.
Five of the six men were charged with witness tampering via killing; conspiracy to witness tamper via killing; use of interstate commerce to facilitate murder for hire; conspiracy to use interstate commerce to facilitate murder for hire; and conspiracy to use a firearm for a violent crime.
Boone faces only three of the five charges: use of interstate commerce to facilitate murder for hire; conspiracy to use interstate commerce to facilitate murder for hire; and conspiracy to use a firearm for a violent crime.
The next hearing for the men has not been scheduled. If convicted on all charges, they could face the death penalty or life in prison.
A new hearing has not been scheduled for the six men. They all could face the death penalty, or life in prison.
The last time the federal government carried out an execution was in January 2021, when Dustin Higgs was executed. This was the 13th and final federal execution in a series that resumed under the Trump administration.
There are more than 20 death row prisoners in Kentucky, but no one has been executed in the state since 2008.
However, several state officials have called on Governor Andy Beshear to sign a death warrant for Ralph Baze.
