A Lexington man has been indicted after police say when he was 17 last year, he shot and killed an 81-year-old man.

Dajon Fielder, now 18, was indicted on charges of murder, first-degree attempted burglary, possession of a handgun by a minor and second-degree criminal mischief Feb. 24. His indictment says he caused the death of a person with the initials T.K. and entered a building on Lakebow Court on Oct. 24, 2025 while armed with a deadly weapon.

The details from the indictment match a homicide that occurred in October 2025 at a home in the 400 block of Lakebow Court. Police previously said Thomas Kriegel, 81, was pronounced dead in his living room with a gunshot wound.

Six days after the homicide, police said a 17-year-old suspect was charged with murder in connection with the shooting. The suspect’s identity wasn’t released at the time because of their age.

Lexington police did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation that Fielder’s case is the same as the Lakebow Court homicide.

This is the second time Fielder has been charged with possession of a handgun by a minor. According to the indictment, he previously convicted of the charge in December 2024.

Fielder has been incarcerated at the Fayette County Detention Center since Dec. 10, 2025, according to jail records. He’s being held on a $1,005,000 bond.

Fielder is scheduled to be arraigned in Fayette Circuit Court Thursday, according to court records.
