Kentucky’s Holly Forbes rocks ‘The Voice’ with a power ballad. ‘You keep getting better’
After a trip back home to Kentucky, Holly Forbes made her small town proud with her latest performance on “The Voice.”
The singer from Catlettsburg in northeast Kentucky was shown in the Nov. 22 episode going to the middle school where her dad works, with students showing their love for Forbes. She said she is “so thankful” for the support from her community.
“My town has been so supportive. They gave me a key to the city of Catlettsburg,” she said on the show.
Back in Hollywood for “The Voice,” fans chose Heart’s power ballad “Alone” as Forbes’ song for Monday’s Top 11 “Fan Week” round. Forbes said she performed the song the first time she went out for karaoke with her husband.
Her coach, Ariana Grande, and former coach, Kelly Clarkson, both rose to their feet as Forbes showed off her vocals during the power ballad.
Blake Shelton later told Forbes he knew her performance “was going to be epic” before she even started, with John Legend also complimenting the power in her voice.
“The power is beautiful. I love your passion,” Legend said. “I feel your commitment to every song, but also your heart is so involved in every note you’re singing and I can feel it. It’s translating every time you sing.”
Grande continues to reap the rewards of having Forbes on her team after stealing her from Clarkson’s team. Grande told Forbes she has “been so consistently phenomenal.”
“For you to be still surprising this late in the game and improving, I don’t even understand how you keep getting better but you do and you’re phenomenal,” Grande said.
Forbes will find out in the Tuesday, Nov. 23 episode if she advances to the top 10 on the show.
