Motorcyclist dies after hitting mom picking up son at school bus stop, Alabama cops say

A motorcyclist was killed and a mother critically injured in a crash near an Alabama bus stop, authorities said.

It happened around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, as the woman was picking up her son after his school bus dropped him off in Brighton, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

The mom and her child were crossing the street when a motorcycle hit the woman, deputies said. The motorcyclist died at the scene.

Authorities haven’t released his name.

The woman was taken to a hospital with critical injuries. Her son wasn’t hurt.

Authorities didn’t release additional information, but said the crash is under investigation.

Brighton is about 15 miles southwest of downtown Birmingham.
