141,000 ATVs made for kids recalled for ‘posing a risk of serious injury or death’
Kids don’t need ATVs to help with injury. That’s why Maxtrade on Wednesday recalled about 141,000 of 10 models of its Coolster Mountopz Youth all-terrain vehicles.
The exact reason for the recall, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission alert: “The ATVs fail to comply with the requirements of the federal mandatory ATV safety standard. The youth ATVs fail to meet the maximum speed limitations for vehicles intended for children ages 6, 10 and 12 years and older, or for teenagers, depending on the model. Additionally, for certain ATVs, the parking brakes do not prevent the movement of the vehicle.
“ATVs that fail to meet the mandatory safety requirements pose a risk of serious injury or death.”
Maxtrade knows of no injuries or incidents yet.
