Double-check your pockets! 5 winning Powerball tickets sold in KY expire soon
If you purchased a lottery ticket in Kentucky last year, you could be one of five Powerball winners in the state that haven’t claimed their prize.
In a Tuesday release, Kentucky Lottery said five winning Powerball tickets sold in the Bluegrass State in 2025 will expire unclaimed in the coming months. With some of the deadlines approaching, the owners of the tickets are being encouraged to collect their winnings.
The largest unclaimed ticket was sold at Sudden Service, 3303 Scottsville Road in Franklin, and is worth $100,000. It is from the Dec. 8 Powerball drawing.
The other unclaimed winning tickets are worth $50,000 each and were sold in London at Saddlebrook One in September, Lebanon at Five Star also in September, Louisville at a Kroger Fuel Center in December and Scottsville also at Five Star in December.
Powerball winners have 180 days to claim their prize, and larger amounts must be collected in person at Kentucky Lottery’s Louisville headquarters. The winning tickets sold in September will expire by early March.
These were not the only large Powerball winners in Kentucky this year, the news release said. The first billion-dollar Powerball jackpot in June run saw 14 large-prize winners in the state, and the second-largest Powerball jackpot led to 20 such Kentucky winners.
If the prize money goes unclaimed, the lottery will put it toward the Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship reserve fund.
