For the fourth straight SEC game, the Kentucky Wildcats will have limited backcourt options.

Experienced guards CJ Fredrick (ribs) and Sahvir Wheeler (right ankle/foot) will again both be unavailable on Wednesday night for UK’s road game at Florida.

Fredrick last played in UK’s home loss to Arkansas on Feb. 7. Wheeler last played in UK’s home win over Florida on Feb. 4.

On Tuesday afternoon, Kentucky men’s basketball assistant coach K.T. Turner said Wheeler has been able to complete an individual workout.

On UK’s pregame radio show Wednesday night, UK head coach John Calipari said neither player practiced on Monday or Tuesday.

While neither player will play Wednesday night, both are with the UK team in Gainesville.

Without Fredrick and Wheeler available, the Cats have still managed to play their way back into the current NCAA Tournament picture with wins at Mississippi State and at home against Tennessee.

These wins have come along with a late-season emergence from freshmen Cason Wallace and Chris Livingston.

Of course, the most significant injury impacting Wednesday night’s UK-Florida contest is on the side of the Gators: Star big man Colin Castleton — who scored 25 points and pulled down eight rebounds in Lexington earlier this season — broke his hand last week.

The injury likely ends Castleton’s season, as well as the fifth-year forward’s college career.
