Kentucky women’s basketball will face Louisville at Rupp Arena. Here’s when

The date is set for the annual matchup between the Kentucky and the Louisville women’s basketball teams, and the game is moving back to its biggest stage.

The Cats and Cards will meet Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Rupp Arena, UK announced Monday.

Ahead of the 62nd meeting of the “Battle of the Bluegrass,” Kentucky leads the all-time series 36-25 following its win last November. Kenny Brooks, going into his third year as head coach of the Cats, is undefeated at UK against Louisville.

This is the first schedule announcement for both the Wildcats and the Cardinals for the 2026-27 season, and the series will return to Rupp Arena for the first time since 2022. The Kentucky women’s team has not tipped off in Rupp Arena since the 2023-24 season. The Cats played 12 games at Rupp that season while Memorial Coliseum underwent an $82 million renovation.

The Cats, back-to-back winners in the series for the first time since 2016, are looking to extend their win streak over the Cardinals; however, the last time the two met in Rupp Arena, the Cards won 82-76.

Each team is entering the 2026-27 season after Sweet 16 appearances last season, the first round of 16 run for the Wildcats in 10 years.

Tip-off time, ticket information and broadcasting details for the game will be announced later.
