It seemed like a foregone conclusion before the season even started, but now it’s official: For the second straight year, Lexington Catholic star Kennedy Tranter was named Lexington Girls’ Soccer Player of the Year

Tranter, a senior who’s signed with the University of Kentucky, was named to the first team for a third straight season. She was selected as the top player in the city by six of the nine girls’ soccer coaches. The Knights won the 11th Region and made the state tournament each of the last three seasons, including back-to-back finals appearances in 2015 and 2016.

On Sunday, Tranter was named to the United Soccer Coaches’ All-America team. She is the first player from Lexington Catholic to ever receive that honor.

Seniors Molly Mohr (Paul Laurence Dunbar) and Lexi Sheely (Lexington Christian) joined Tranter as three-time selections to the All-City first team.
