Coaches name All-11th Region girls’ basketball team
Lafayette’s Anaya Brown and Berea Coach Dammian Stepp took top honors as coaches from the 11th Region announced their All-11th Region Girls’ Basketball Team and player and coach of the year on Friday.
Brown, a 6-foot senior guard committed to Tennessee Martin, took player of the year honors by gathering the most points in the coaches’ all-region voting. Already a region player of the year as voted by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches last week, the Miss Basketball nominee has averaged 18 points and 9.5 rebounds per game for the Generals.
Stepp, in his sixth season with the Pirates, has taken Berea to the All “A” Classic for four straight years and has a 24-7 record this season with a runner-up finish in the 44th District. He was also named region coach of the year by the KABC last week.
The all-region honorees will be honored betweed games at next week’s semifinals of the girls’ 11th Region Tournament at Eastern Kentucky University’s McBrayer Arena on March 3.
