Here are 2026’s Lexington All-City boys basketball teams and player of the year

The Lexington Herald-Leader and Kentucky.com are proud to present the 2026 All-City boys high school basketball teams and player of the year as voted on by the nine coaches of Lexington’s varsity KHSAA programs.

For the second year in a row, the boys Lexington Player of the Year goes to Amari Owens of Bryan Station, a 6-foot point senior point guard who averaged 24.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game this season on his way to becoming the all-time leading scorer in both Bryan Station and Lexington boys basketball history.

Owens, an Eastern Kentucky commit, totaled 2,606 points and 509 rebounds in four varsity seasons for the Defenders.

Frederick Douglass guard DeMarcus Surratt received three Player of the Year votes to Owens’ five, ranking second. The other first-place nod went to Henry Clay’s Jackson Stephan.

Like Owens and Surratt, Bryan Station’s Taeshawn Adams earned first-team honors for a second year in a row. Tates Creek’s Stephen Franklin rounded out the first team.

Lexington’s nine varsity boys basketball coaches were asked to nominate players for All-City consideration. Later, the coaches were asked to rank, one through 10, their top players from that list of nominees. They were not permitted to vote for their own players.

Point values were assigned to each voting position (10 points for first-place votes, nine points for second-place votes, etc.) and the accumulation of those points was used to create the first and second teams. Per tradition, each team is limited to three All-City honorees. First-team honorees are listed with voting totals plus first-place votes in parentheses.
