Here are 2026’s Lexington All-City girls basketball teams and player of the year

The Lexington Herald-Leader and Kentucky.com are proud to present the 2026 All-City girls high school basketball teams and player of the year as voted on by the nine coaches of Lexington’s varsity KHSAA programs.

Frederick Douglass guard Jaelee Knowles has earned Lexington Player of the Year honors for the second season in a row. Knowles, a 5-foot-11 junior, averaged 13.3 points and 7.4 rebounds for the back-to-back 42nd District and 11th Region champions.

Knowles received seven player-of-the-year nods with Paul Laurence Dunbar junior Layla Flynn and Lexington Christian senior Piper Graham each getting one vote and joining Knowles on the All-City First Team.

Douglass teammate Tamia Waide and Lafayette senior point guard Anna Clay Denton rounded out the first team selections.

Lexington’s nine varsity girls basketball coaches were asked to nominate players for All-City consideration. Later, the coaches were asked to rank, one through 10, their top players from that list of nominees. They were not permitted to vote for their own players.

Point values were assigned to each voting position (10 points for first-place votes, nine points for second-place votes, etc.) and the accumulation of those points was used to create the first and second teams. Per tradition, each team is limited to three All-City honorees. First-team honorees are listed with voting totals plus first-place votes in parentheses.
