Kentucky’s All-Star girls end four-year losing streak to Hoosiers

Kentucky’s All-Star girls defeated their Indiana counterparts, 75-67, Saturday afternoon in Indianapolis to end a seven-game losing streak in the series dating back to 2013.

Jaelynn Penn, an Indiana University signee, scored a game-high 20 points and be named MVP for Kentucky. She had nine rebounds, six assists and five steals in 29 minutes as the Kentucky girls rallied from a 33-25 halftime deficit.

Tasia Jeffries, one of Penn’s teammates at Butler High School, had 12 points and shot a game-best 4-for-8 from behind the three-point line.

Franklin County standout Princess Stewart, who’s signed with Xavier University, had 10 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals in 22 minutes. Rebecca Cook, a teammate at Franklin County who recently committed to run track at Western Kentucky University, had three points, seven rebounds and a blocked shot. Earlier in the day she was named co-Player of the Year by the Kentucky Associated Press.

MacKenzie Coleman (Metcalfe County) and Kaylee Clifford (Trimble County) each scored 10 points for Kentucky, which outscored Indiana 23-13 in points off turnovers.

The Kentucky girls were without Miss Basketball Lindsey Duvall, a University of Louisville signee who is still recovering from a minor knee surgery.
