Lexington Craft Beer week includes doughnut, ice cream special brews and more
If you’re a fan of craft beer, the next week is looking good for you.
Lexington Craft Beer Week is back with tap takeovers, tasting events, giveaways and more at local breweries and restaurants. The popular local foodie event takes place May 9-18.
Seven Lexington breweries will celebrate and raise a glass to craft brews with special releases and collaborations. Participating breweries and taprooms include: Blue Stallion Brewing, Country Boy Brewing, Ethereal Brewing, Lexington Brewing & Distilling, Mirror Twin Brewing, West Sixth Brewing and Wisebird Cider.
The special releases start pouring May 9 with four on tap.
▪ Country Western Vol. 13: Baker’s Dozen, a collaboration of Country Boy and West Sixth breweries, is a donut-inspired stout full of chocolate and raspberry. The decadent and craveable jelly-filled treat is available at all West Sixth and Country Boy Brewing locations at 11 a.m.
▪ Blue Stallion Brewing will release its Bock Sabboth, a Maibock at 11 a.m. at the brewery on West Third Street.
▪ Ethereal Brewing is collaborating with Trellis Brewing and The Void Sake Company for Paddy Cakes, a rice lager brewed with Carolina Gold paddy rice. The release will be on draft at the Manchester taproom.
▪ Mirror Twin Brewing will have a new release in partnership with Burl Brew. Liquid Swords 2 is a 9% ABV New Zealand IPA.
Through May 18, 13 more craft beer releases are planned at the eight local breweries. Among the collaborations are a beer from Mirror Twin and Crank and Boom Ice Cream. Boom Hive, a honeycomb ice cream sour, will be released 11 a.m. May 16 at Mirror Twin’s National Avenue taproom.

There’s plenty to eat and activities to go along with the daily beer releases. All week, there are trivia nights, tap takeovers, vintage art markets and beer battles. There are plenty of food specials and events at local restaurants, including Boonedogs and Jack Brown’s Beer & Burger Joint.

All week, there is a Jefferson Jaunt bar hop where you can redeem your stamped passport after you have visited five Jefferson Street locations for a prize.
The celebration ends with Country Boy’s ninth annual Beer Cheese Contest from 1 to 4 p.m. at 108 Corporate Blvd. in Georgetown, where you can sample more than 30 of the best beer cheeses from around Kentucky and vote for your favorites.
