Lexington, are you hungry? More popular foodie events are returning at full strength

Popular Lexington foodie events are back and expected to be at full strength, so mark your calendars.

Crave Food + Music Festival will return Aug. 14-15 to the Bluegrass Fairgrounds at Masterson Station Park. The event will feature dozens of local restaurants, chefs, food trucks, craft beer and cocktail vendors and more, including a musical acts performing over the two days.

The Crave festival operates with “Crave Bucks” and advance tickets are on sale now at a discount.

The other food event to come back strong is Lexington Burger Week, which will be July 5-11. Local restaurants offer special burgers for $6 each, while they last.

In 2018, Tolly Ho debuted its Lexington Burger Week offering, the Hungover Ho. It was two quarter-pound patties seasoned with a cinnamon chipotle spice topped with Ho Sauce, lettuce, two slices of Swiss, four pieces of Canadian Bacon, hash browns, an over medium-well egg and bourbon honey sauce.

Details on which restaurants will be participating and what they will have on the menu are expected soon.

Both events are productions of Smiley Pete, which in 2020 was forced to put on a slimmed down version of Burger Week and to cancel the Crave festival altogether due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A third major food event, Lexington Restaurant Week, announced in April that it will return July 22-Aug. 1.

At least 28 restaurants have signed on so far, according to the Lexington Restaurant Week website, from Azur Restaurant & Patio to Zim’s Cafe. Menus are expected to be announced in July.

The Lexington restaurant scene is recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic. Capacity restrictions and the mask mandate were lifted June 11 and many restaurants are expected to have full dining rooms in use for the events.
