Getting to the Big Apple from Lexington is about to get a little easier.

Beginning June 7, there will be an additional Delta Airlines flight from Blue Grass Airport to LaGuardia Airport in New York City added to the departures list, according to a news release from the airport. The added flight will provide travelers more choices to visit one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations and give people greater flexibility to make a business round-trip in a single day.

“Expanding service to one of LEX’s most in-demand markets reflects the continued growth of air travel in central Kentucky and enhances connectivity for travelers throughout the region,” Eric Frankl, president and CEO of Blue Grass Airport, said in the news release. “We are grateful to Delta Air Lines for its continued investment in central Kentucky and for recognizing the strength of this market.”

The airport recently announced a multi-year development program that will ultimately result in a new concourse with eight gates, expanded dining and retail options, and an upgraded baggage claim area. The new concourse eight gates, and some key projects with the program have already been completed.

Last year the airport saw about 1.61 million total passengers, surpassing the previous record of about 1.57 million passengers set in 2024. It’s the second consecutive year Blue Grass Airport has set a record for number of passengers.

The airport has also expanded service to other destinations this year, such as increasing the seat capacity on its non-stop flights to Denver and bringing back a seasonal direct flight to Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport.
