The University of Kentucky football team was defeated by the Louisville Cardinals 41-14 at Kroger Field in Lexington on Saturday in the regular season finale for both teams.

The Wildcats finished the regular season 4-8 overall and 1-7 in the Southeastern Conference. For the first time since 2015 Kentucky did not qualify to play in a bowl game so Mark Stoops’ 12th season as UK head coach is over.

Louisville improved to 8-4 overall and finished ACC play with a 5-3 record. The Cardinals are bowl eligible and now await their postseason assignment.

The Cardinals closed their deficit in the Governor’s Cup rivalry to 20-16 with their first win over Kentucky since 2017.
