Four games were played Wednesday during the opening day of the 2022 Mingua Beef Jerky Girls’ Sweet 16 State Basketball Tournament in Rupp Arena.

Meade County, Bullitt East, Southwestern and Franklin County punched their tickets to Friday’s quarterfinals with first-round victories.

Four more first-round games are lined up for Thursday. Below is a recap of Wednesday’s events in Lexington.
