COVID casualty: Lexington seafood boil restaurant is closed but is it gone for good?
A popular Lexington seafood boil restaurant, known for its crab and po-boys, is closed.
The Seafood Lady, which opened at 833 Georgetown St. in June 2020, has shut down, according to owner Nichelle Thurston.
Thurston brought her popular Gulf Coast style seafood boil menu from Louisville to Lexington during the pandemic. And customers would line up outside in the parking lot to pick up orders of crab, shrimp, fish, oysters and crawfish.
But the restaurant closed in March, after less than a year in business, as COVID took a toll, Thurston said.
However, you can still get Seafood Lady’s spicy fare in town this fall: Seafood Lady will be selling inside Kroger Field at University of Kentucky home football games.
Two Louisville locations are open and Thurston said she is looking for another spot to reopen her restaurant.
“I look forward to doing another Lexington location soon,” she said.
