Local brewery opening 2nd Lexington taproom, barbecue restaurant in pickleball venue
Country Boy Brewing is opening a second Lexington taproom in a new pickleball venue.
The original taproom at 436 Chair Ave. is staying open and will celebrate 13 years in business Feb. 6-9 with special releases and events including live music.
The Lexington and Georgetown-based craft brewery announced that it’s partnering with PKL Lex, which is opening a pickleball venue just off Winchester Road and Walton Avenue at 223 Owens St.
PKL Lex is expected to open this spring and will feature nine indoor CushionMaster courts, including three large Championship courts, according to the website. The entertainment venue also will have golf simulator bays.
To complement the play area, PKL Lex will have a full bar and restaurant featuring barbecue and beer from Country Boy.
“As one of the original craft breweries in Lexington, we are thrilled to bring in Country Boy as a partner in this exciting new concept,” said Gresham Wilson, founding partner of PKL Lex, in a news release. “We want this to be a fun spot for the community to gather for games, food, and great beer.”
The taproom will have 24 unique brews, package beer to-go and a menu of high-end pub food, including their signature barbecue and smoked meats.
“This project has been a ton of fun,” said Daniel “DH” Harrison, co-founder of Country Boy Brewing in the release. “Learning the game of pickleball and the culture around the growing sport has been a blast. We are pumped to bring a Country Boy flair to this new space.”
PKL Lex will offer yearly memberships or pay-as-you-play options.
